This is a graduate / post-graduate entry-level role. Relevant

engineering or computer science graduate with strong
mathematical modelling and programming skills. This is a
technically challenging role that requires an understanding
of the requirements of the Basel II Accord and the banking business.

HBF is seeking to appoint a newly graduated actuary, or actuarial
student about to graduate, to work in its small General Insurance
pricing team.
This is a developmental position where the successful applicant
will be provided the opportunity to develop the knowledge and
skills to undertake General Insurance pricing analysis, business
reporting and contribute to formulating recommendations to
enhance business performance. In return the successful candidate
will need to be highly motivated, inquisitive and able to work
with the minimum of supervision.
The role will involve working alongside the Senior Pricing
Officer on building models in Glean (a proprietary GLM tool),
building and maintaining financial and statistical models for
tracking individual product and portfolio performance and
undertaking complex enquiries in MS Excel.
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate that they
meet the following selection criteria:
- Tertiary qualification in actuarial studies or statistics or
relevant experience in a general insurance pricing team.
- Well-developed communication skills including interpersonal
skills, with demonstrated ability to present recommendations.
- Demonstrable analytical skills.
- Experience using spreadsheets and databases for information
analysis.
- Strong report writing skills and ability to meet business
deadlines.
- Ability to prioritise and manage a complex and changing
workload.
- Proven ability to work professionally in a small team.
