Since April 2007, the Curtin course in
Actuarial Science is
accredited
by the
Institute of Actuaries of Australia.
(Curtin is the only Western Australian university with
an accredited course in Actuarial Science.)
The Department provides a range of courses
which will equip students
with the necessary mathematical expertise to deal with problems
encountered in an increasingly technological world.

time academic staff, 3 administration staff and 23 post-graduate
students.

Examples of some areas are Combinatorial Mathematics &

The Department is the home of the
West Australian Centre of
Excellence in Industrial Optimisation
(WACEIO), which specialises
in industry-focused research and training. Furthermore,
it offers consulting services in applying optimisation,
operations research and statistics to key Western
Australian industries, including agriculture, fishery,
environment, mining and petroleum, defence, telecommunications
and transport.
