Welcome to the Department of Mathematics and Statistics

News! ...
Since April 2007, the Curtin course in Actuarial Science is accredited by the Institute of Actuaries of Australia. (Curtin is the only Western Australian university with an accredited course in Actuarial Science.)

The Department provides a range of courses which will equip students with the necessary mathematical expertise to deal with problems encountered in an increasingly technological world.

Learn more about the people within the Department. Currently there are 14 full time academic staff, 4 part time academic staff, 3 administration staff and 23 post-graduate students.

Find out about the research that we have undertaken in the past, and research that is currently taking place. Examples of some areas are Combinatorial Mathematics & Mathematical Models in Geophysics.

The Department is the home of the West Australian Centre of Excellence in Industrial Optimisation (WACEIO), which specialises in industry-focused research and training. Furthermore, it offers consulting services in applying optimisation, operations research and statistics to key Western Australian industries, including agriculture, fishery, environment, mining and petroleum, defence, telecommunications and transport.

Information about previous and current conferences is now available.
